Koelnmesse expands its food fair portfolio in Asia - Premiere in Shanghai: World of Food China

World of Food China, to be staged by Koelnmesse, is already taking shape. This new trade fair for the food and drinks sector will be making its debut in Shanghai, China, from 4th to 6th September 2006. It will be held alongside International FoodTec China and Sweets China, which was successfully launched in 2004. The new trio of trade fairs will cover the entire value chain, from production and processing to the ready-to-sell product.

Three key Chinese associations from the sector have announced that they will be supporting the project: the China National Food Industry Association (CNFIA), the China Chamber of Commerce of I/E of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal By-Products (CFNA) and the Shanghai Import Food Association (SIFEA). These strategically important partnerships illustrate the special significance of World of Food China for the Chinese market, particularly as the alliance of three trade fairs opens up numerous synergy effects for the exhibitors and visitors.

The trade fair trio will occupy 33,000 m of exhibition space in Halls E1, E2 and E3 of the state-of-the-art Shanghai New International Exhibition Center.
Since the Chinese market was opened up, the country has become one of the worlds fastest-growing economies. Imports of food and drinks, for example, more than doubled between 1999 and 2003, and further increases are predicted in the coming years. The Chinese food industry is also posting growth in terms of production volume and exports.

Conditions are therefore ideal for a trio of food fairs that between them cover every aspect from production to the point of sale. As a spin-off of Anuga, World of Food China will also benefit from the international network of the worlds largest food and drink fair. Thats an advantage that we intend to exploit to the full, states Wolfgang Kranz, Executive Vice President of Koelnmesse.

Together with local partners, Koelnmesse has been successfully staging Thaifex World of Food Asia in Bangkok since 2004. The company also holds food fairs for the Indian market.

World of Food China 2006: Shanghai, 4th to 6th September 2006
Producers and importers will exhibit the entire spectrum of food, drinks and raw materials at World of Food China. The organisers expect to attract a large number of international exhibitors in addition to Chinese suppliers. The fair will address trade visitors from the specialist trade, the hotel and catering sector, the travel and tourism sector, and the food and packaging industry.
