According to the biography of Archbishop Anno II, the St. Petri Kettenfeier and Severinsfest annual fairs - called "forum" or "nundinae" - are not only frequented by merchants from all over Germany but also from "countless overseas, and even more remote, countries".

In those times, "overseas" referred e.g. to Great Britain, North Africa and modern Scandinavia.
